What data do we collect?

SMS Equine and Canine collects the following data:

• Your name
• Complete client forms
• Email address or phone number - one is required, whichever you prefer to provide.
• Address - collected only if we are visiting your home to treat your dog/s, or visiting your yard to treat your horse/s.

How do we collect your data?

SMS Equine and Canine collects data directly from you when you:

• Complete a booking through our booking system
• Complete client forms
• Provide pre-session information via email, WhatsApp, or text message
• My research: If you complete surveys to participate in my dissertation research, you are given the option to do this anonymized or provide contact information to participate in follow-up questions and the research study itself. This information is collected through forms.

How will we use your data?

SMS Equine and Canine uses your data to:

• Maintain client records
• Contact you to discuss any logistics
• Ensure that we can provide you the correct service
• Follow-up with you if required

How long do we hold your data?

I will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. Specific retention periods vary based on the type of data and our business needs:

• Client records: I retain this data while you have an active booking and for 12 months afterwards. If you do not rebook in this time, the data will be archived and at 24 months will be deleted.
• Contact information: If you provide any contact information via direct communication, or enquiries, I will keep this data for 3 months, after which time it will be deleted.

What are you consenting to?

By clicking Submit on any form, booking or by communicating directly via email, WhatsApp or text, you consent to the collection and processing the data you have shared with me, and that you understand that it will be used for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy. Your information will only be used to provide the requested services.

This reminder is in place on all forms you submit.

What are your data protection rights?

SMS Equine and Canine would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

• The right to access - You have the right to request copies of your personal data.
• The right to rectification - You have the right to request correction of any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request completion of information you believe is incomplete.
• The right to erasure - You have the right to ask for your data to be deleted. However, if you do this, I am unable to maintain client records for you and therefore will be unable to continue to provide services in compliance with my insurance. I am however happy at any point to remove any data that is not required to provide the services as long as I have one method of contact, your name, and if visiting a location to provide care to your animal, the location of that in advance of the session. But this can be deleted immediately afterwards.
• The right to restrict processing and right to object to processing - You have the right to restrict or object to the processing of your personal data. However, as per erasure, if I cannot maintain client records, I am unable to continue providing services. I have listed the minimum information required above.
• Data portability - You have the right to request that SMS Equine and Canine transfer the data that from your client records to another organisation, or directly to you.

You can request a copy of all information we hold on you and request any changes or deletions to that, as long as we can maintain minimum required data to provide services. If you no longer require services from us, you can request a copy of your data or deletion, and we will adhere to this within the time frame above.

Privacy policies of other websites

smsequinecanine.ie contains booking links which utilise the Calendly platform and client forms which utilise the Monday.com platform. They each have their own privacy policies. This privacy policy only covers the way that SMS Equine and Canine process your data. However, none of these processors will use your data for any secondary purpose, and I am in full control of the data within these platforms, and the platform retains no record if data is deleted.

Changes to our privacy policy

SMS Equine and Canine reviews this policy every six months or whenever a change to the platforms or scope of data processing occur. Any existing clients will be notified of any changes and how it affects them via their preferred contact method. This policy was last updated June 2026.
